Employment: Part-Time Lecturer in Jazz Dance

University of California, Irvine, Department of Dance seeks a part-time lecturer in Jazz Dance. The successful candidate is required to have an MFA enabling them to teach advanced levels of jazz dance technique within UCI's program. Minimum qualifications: M.F.A./M.A., or professional experience in the field. University teaching experience required. Knowledge of more than one of the following forms or approaches is required: African-American vernacular dance, Matt Mattox, Luigi, Dunham-jazz, musical theatre, hip-hop, African or Afro-Latin informed approaches. Full time annual rate of $49,012. Actual appointment will be at 10% percent time or $1,633.73 per quarter for one or more quarters in the 2016-17 academic year and contingent upon available funding and instructional need.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Claire Trevor School of the Arts, Department of Dance at the University of California, Irvine enrolls 150 undergraduate dance majors and 20 graduate students in B.A., B.F.A., and M.F.A. degrees in Dance. The department, with 15 full-time and several part-time faculty, has been recognized as one of the nation’s outstanding dance programs. UCI alumni have danced with professional dance companies, in film and television, on Broadway, in national tours, and are employed as university dance faculty nationwide and internationally. The department’s facilities include six dance studios, a motion capture studio, and a Dancer Wellness/ Pilates Suite. Students perform in three theatres (including an Experimental Media Performance Lab) and participate in collaborative telematic projects.
